CEG Policies & Dance Clothing Requirements

ATTENDANCE POLICIES

Attendance is mandatory for all CEG classes, any group class that is Missed by the student, CEG Academy will not credited it to the next month of class and cannot be made up. All missed classes must be paid in full. The importance of attending class on a regular basis cannot be stressed enough! As with anything else, what you put into something will determine what you get out of it. Absenteeism will only slow down your progress as well as the progress of the class. We are very interested in developing your talents to your fullest potential; therefore, your attendance is expected at each scheduled class and lesson. Students will be charged for missed classes. Make-up classes are available. It is the responsibility of the student to take advantage of the policy. Please arrive early and give yourself enough time to get ready for class. If a student arrives late it is disruptive to the class and the student may miss an important aspect of the lesson. Please pick up students immediately after class. Children should not be left unattended at the studio. Parents are requested to pick up their children inside the studio. At no time are students permitted to wait for their parents outside. This is for your child's safety. Please notify the school if you are going to be late picking up your child from class so proper supervision of your child can be arranged.

GENERAL DANCE, MODEL, MUSIC & DRAMA CLASSES
Students need to give their instructors a minimum of a 48-hour notice to receive a make-up class pass. A maximum of 4 absences per year can be made-up with another similar class. Students have two weeks from the date of absence to make-up their class. If make-up does not occur within the two-week period, he or she then forfeits the make-up opportunity. Dance students are expected to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class to properly stretch and warm up so as to prevent any unnecessary injuries. If a student arrives more than 10 minutes after the start of class, the instructor may have him or her sit and observe and not participate. Please make sure you're on time to class. We care about your well being.

Our goal at CEG is to see our students progress at their fullest potential. Evaluations are conducted to help each student to clearly see his or her strengths, progress and areas of needed improvement. All evaluations are given to the student in writing. We believe that performance measured is performance gained. At the beginning of the year, teachers will outline specific skills to be developed through the course or private lesson based on the student’s goals. Students receive written evaluation twice a year.

STUDENT BINDERS
CEG Performing Arts Academy binders can be purchased at the office. All students need to bring it to class each week. This is an important tool for CEG Performing Arts Academy teachers and office staff to communicate clearly and in a timely manner to students and parents.

If weather is bad in your area, please use your own discretion for safety.  Please understand that our decision for closing is based on many factors and often not the present conditions.   Teachers come from many areas and many teenagers drive to their classes.  Often if the School District of Philadedlphia is closed due to bad weater we are also closed as well. Our policy is Safety First.

Makeup policy:   Students may stop by the office to schedule a makeup and fill out a makeup form at least 48 hours prior to the makeup.  Makeup requests will not be handled over the telephone.  No refunds or credits will be given.

This showcase is open to the general public, friends, and family of students to attend. Admission is free.

MAJOR ACADEMY PERFORMANCES

Your Guest is only allowed One Guest Pass per month for that one class. Students must bring in a different Guest Every Month. Guest Offer only good for Group Classes Only.

PARENT OBSERVATION WEEK
Parents are not allowed in the classrooms while class is going on. Parents may observe from the lobby windows but we ask for your cooperation in not disturbing the students by waving or banging on the glass. This disrupts the class by distracting the students and the instructor. Permission to observe classes other than those specifically designated for observation may be obtained by special arrangement with the office and should be scheduled in advance. One class each semester will be designated for observation by parents, family and guests. Guests are welcome to bring cameras and/or video recorders. Parents, family and guests are allowed in the lobby only. This is also the only place where dancers may warm up and focus prior to class, so please be considerate. Chatting should be kept to a minimum, and voices should be modulated to prevent disrupting classes.

FLEXIBLE CLASS SCHEDULES
Please let us know if there is a class you would be interested in taking at a different day or time than is indicated on the schedule. CEG Performing Arts Academy will place you on our interest list. We have been able to add additional class times in the past based on interest.

In keeping with that professionalism CEG students are required to attend dance classes in proper dance attire. It is important for each class that all dance students respect and follow this policy.  Some parents have found it helpful to have two pairs at home in case one pair is being laundered.

· No jewelry, watches or gum allowed in class

· No food of any kind is allowed in dance studios

· Students may bring bottled water to class, labeled with their name.

· Hair must be neatly pulled in ponytail or bun for medium and long hair

· No baggy clothes in dance class, please! (Except for hip hop)

· We appreciate parents cleaning up food and toys in waiting area before leaving

PRESCHOOL PARENTS

Young students need to maintain their focus in class, therefore it is very important to keep distractions to a minimum. Please have your child take care of any restroom needs prior to class. We know parents enjoy watching their youngsters, but we ask that you please not stand at the studio doorway during class. Young students end up focusing on the doorway rather than the teacher. Teachers often invite parents in at the end of class to show what they’ve learned.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to having your student in our academy!
